Losing Your SH*T

I’m sure I’m not alone on this one….but sometimes it's nice to hear of other moms that lose their sh*t too so you don’t feel half as bad…Feel free to comment below a time you lost it, or some advice if you’re a perfect mom and never lost it.  Sometimes I feel like I am always annoyed and bothered by all little things….for instance, my 6 year old tattles on everything, and she can’t even go into the bathroom alone if the light is off (yes she’s tall enough to flip the switch herself, but apparently it's just too scary to have to do that in the dark), my 9 year old is always bored and constantly asking for sleepovers or to make slime.  Sometimes it all just gets bottled up and you LOSE YOUR SH*T.  Maybe you yell or cry or do something stupid.  Mine usually involves some type of screaming and a swear word or two.  I gotta believe all moms do it.  I have the best mom ever, and growing up I thought so as well.  I do remember one day when she just lost her s...

I am very smart person.  Like not bragging, but I went through college with a 3.98, I’d say that’s pretty good for how much partying I did….Anyway, my point is I am BOOK smart...Like I know a lot about math and science and can figure things out easily…..However, I am NOT common sense smart.  In fact I’ve said some pretty dumb things throughout life….in fact I do it so oftenly that my family and friends have come to call them STEPHISMS.  Here are some examples: →One day I was looking through one of my husband’s hunting magazines (out of peer boredom) and I saw an ad for a spray that made the deer see you in black and white so that you didn’t stand out and you’d blend into your background when hunting.  (Now mind you, you are SUPPOSED to spray this on your clothing before going out hunting).  I look at the ad inquisitively and say, “So how do you get close enough to spray that in the deer’s eyes?” →We’re in Milwaukee driving to visit some fri...

The English Language...

Image
As you may or may not know...I teach english to children who speak other languages.   Often times when I have students that are super new to the US they have some questions on what certain things mean….things we never think about, but if you really think about it, the English language is pretty crazy and difficult to learn with all of our weird phonics and grammar rules…..Here’s a few stories: →One day I had a 5th grade girl that speaks spanish and was learning english come in from recess and say, “Teacher, what’s Cheez-it?”  So I’m all: “oh, it’s like this little orange square cracker that kids like to eat for a snack”.  She looks at me all weird, and says, “No I don’t think that's it…”  So of course my job is now to figure out what the heck she is talking about….so I ask her how/where she heard this, and she says (in spanish), “Well at recess all the kids were running around trying to get away from a certain person, and then someone ra...

Funny story: so as you’ve learned Evelyn has hearing aids...well she’s definitely getting smart with them if you know what I mean…..She doesn’t love wearing them all the time at home so she takes breaks after school and takes them out.  The other day she was getting the oreos out to have a snack.  I said, “You can only have 2!” and then left the room.  Just a bit later I walked back through and saw her sitting at the counter with 4 oreos….I looked over at her with “the look” and said nothing.  She looked at me and replied, “What?!? I didn’t hear you say to only have 2”..... Little smarty pants ;)

The WORST day...

Image
Here’s a little story about my oldest daughter, and one of the WORST days of my life….. When she was about 2 and ½ I started having concerns with her hearing.  It seemed the TV was always too loud and I had to say her name a LOT before she heard me….but then again, why would I be too concerned….there is this thing called “selective hearing” and she was just a kid. Who wants to listen to their mom at that age?!?.....Well, at her 3 yr. dr. apt. she didn't quite understand the hearing test, so they said we could just try again at 4 yrs, but just over a month later I realized how bad it had gotten...so I took her into an audiologist..what they found was not good, but VERY rare, so our audiologist thought maybe she did something wrong and so she wanted a second test/opinion….Whatever was happening it seemed urgent….usually you have to make appointments for this kind of stuff and wait weeks to come back in, but she left the room and got another audiologist from the cl...

The Beginning of my Fitness Journey...

Image
So in July of 2017 I decided to become a BeachBody Coach, I’m not here to sell anything, just thought I’d start with this to share my fitness journey :) …. I was always kind of the skinny girl…..but let’s just say that since having two kids, picking up some not so healthy habits (like eating a lot and drinking with my buddies, NEVER working out, and simply just being in my 30’s and for some reason only getting older)….it’s taken a toll on me….I was never happy with the way I looked anymore and my shirts were beginning to get tight on my gut…so much so that in the past school year I had three different students ask about the baby in my belly. So I decided to finally do something about it. I joined a workout group called ShiftShop through beachbody (from home – no way would I ever embarrass myself in public at a gym) ….well, I fell in love….in love with the awesome people that go along with it, in love with the shakeology, and in love with working out!....ME- the girl who used to tease ...

A little about me...

My name is Stephanie.  I wear a lot of hats...not literally, in fact I rarely wear hats, I think they make my ears look funny and I just don’t have a pretty enough face to pull them off! What I meant to say is I have many titles…..First and foremost I am a mother to two wonderfully amazing girls, Evelyn and Natalie (currently 9 and 6, although lately it seems more like 19 and 16 ughh!) I am a wife of almost 12 years, married to my high school sweetheart.  I am a teacher…(I teach reading intervention, english to students that speak other languages (I’m somewhat fluent in Spanish), and I am also a team teacher for part of the day with second graders for writing).  I am also a fitness coach...that is definitely a work in progress but that’ll be another blog...I am also a mommy to an 11 year old Boston Terrier….most people have their dog babies until they have their real babies, but not me…..she is still my baby, I love her dearly!  My family also has a cute little stink...
